The coach service known as 'Lamb's Coach' began in 1895 as a twice weekly service from Taroom to Miles, a distance of over 90 miles which was completed in 12 hours.
At the time, passengers could reserve a seat on the coach for 5s. Mr. W. J. Ashton was the proprietor of the transport and mail service, with Frank Lamb being the chief driver. At the time, Lamb's Coach was considered to be the fastest coach in Australia.
In 1926 the coach service was replaced by motor lorry.
