Frank Lamb was the the chief driver of the coach service owned by Mr. W. J. Ashton, known as 'Lamb's Coach'.
It was said that Frank Lamb could "handle the ribbons as few could", and drove what was considered at the time, to be the fastest coach in Australia.
Frank Lamb would go on to be a very popular coachman and drive the coach between Taroom and Miles as a mail contractor for the next 30 years. Frank Lamb's horses were worked without shoes, and only ate the natural grasses of the Dawson district. In 1926, the coach service was replaced by motor lorry, and Frank Lamb went on to run a motor service connecting Taroom to Wandoan.
As a coach driver, Frank Lamb was "courageous, optimistic, always ready with a laugh or joke, and ever solicitous for the welfare of his fellow travellers".
