Victor Drury and his wife arrived in Dalby in August 1907, having lived in Brisbane since their marriage in 1892.
Prior to arriving in Dalby, the Drury's only child, a daughter, tragically drowned in a boating incident on Moreton Bay in 1904. In 1906, Victor Drury was a Councillor and Chairman of the Cleveland Shire, and in 1907 he commenced practice as a solicitor and notary public in Dalby.
He was elected Mayor of Dalby Town Council in 1910 and again in 1927. For 15 years he was chairman of the Dalby Chamber of Commerce, resigning that position after becoming Mayor for the second time in 1927.
Victor Drury was also chairman of the Dalby Fire Brigade, Dalby Hospital committee, and president of the Chamber of Commerce of Queensland in 1932, 1935, and 1936. He was actively associated with ambulance affairs for 28 years, being a founder of the Dalby centre, and a committeeman and chairman of the centre from 1910 to 1938.
Early in 1939, Victor Drury disposed of his interests at Dalby to live in retirement in Brisbane.
