Ruby Smith was born in 1904, and married Thomas Laxton in 1928 at St. John's Anglican Church, Dalby.
Thomas Laxton was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Laxton of Meandarra. Ruby was the only surviving daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Walter Smith of Dalby.
The Rev. Frank Knight officiated, and Miss Jarrold presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Walter Smith, wore a frock of ivory mariette, with a cross-over bodice revealing a silver lace front and a pleated draped panel forming an uneven hem on the skirt.
Her embroidered tulle veil, which was lent by Mrs. McIntosh, Meandarra, was worn in cap fashion, and was adorned with orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white roses and sweet peas, set in tulle, and tied with silver streamers.
