Michael James Ford was a merchant and general storekeeper in Dalby for many years. He came to Dalby from England in 1882 and started his own mechanising store and extensive forwarding agency, employing numerous teamsters.
He was elected Mayor of Dalby Town Council from 1885-1886, and again in 1888.
At the time of his sudden death in 1902, at the age of 55 years, Michael Ford was clerk of the Wambo Divisional Board. He was greatly respected for his conscientious and straightforward manner and was a highly valued member of the Dalby community.
