Methuen Young Morgan was elected as a Councillor on the Murilla Shire Council in 1933, became deputy chairman in 1943, and elected Chairman in 1946.
He was the brother of the previous Chairman, Godfrey Morgan Jnr., and the son of The Hon. Godfrey Morgan MLA.
During his tenure, Crawford Bridge and Gil Weir were constructed, and the district experienced significant floods in 1954 and 1956.
