Harold Edward Thorley was appointed Dalby Town Council Town Clerk in 1926, replacing Mr. W. Bruce in the position.
He was previously senior clerk and cashier in the office of Thomas Jack and Co. Ltd., where he had been employed since 1912, excepting a period of three or four years when he was absent on military service with the AIF.
Prior to his appointment with Dalby Town Council, Harold Thorley passed the Local Authorities clerks' examination, gaining first place in Queensland.
Harold Thorley held the position of Town Clerk until 1966, when his son, Peter Thorley, took over the position.
