Godfrey Morgan Jnr. was Chairman of Murilla Shire Council from 1936 to 1946. During his tenure as Chairman, the district saw the first electric light installed, and the Miles State Schools started receiving wireless broadcasts.
Godfrey Morgan Jnr. served in the Royal Australian Air Force during WWII, and despite his absence, continued serving as Chairman for the duration of the war. He was also an Australasian amateur lightweight boxing champion, and also served as the vice-president of the Queensland Local Government Association.
In 1941 he unsuccessfully contested for the the seat of Dalby as the endorsed Country Party candidate in the Queensland state election, and in 1971, he authored his autobiography entitled 'We are borne as a river: my first seventy years', where he detailed his family's involvement in politics.
Godfrey Morgan Jnr. was the brother of Murilla Shire Council Chairman Methuen Morgan, and the son of The Hon. Godfrey Morgan MLA.
