Emily Elizabeth Fortescue

Emily Elizabeth Williams was born in Bristol, England, on November 8 1860. In June 1872 she arrived in Brisbane with her family on the barque 'Ramsey'.

In 1880, she married William Fortescue, and in 1884 the family moved to Dalby so that William could manage the Dalby branch of the Bunya Sawmilling Company. William e was also a member of the Dalby Town Council for 15 years, and was elected Mayor in 1904-5 and again in 1915.

Emily Fortescue died at the Jubilee Hospital in Dalby on 4 August 1950 at the age of 89 years.
