Thomas Jack Memorial Park
Description
Other namesThomas Jack ParkHistory
In 1951, a parcel of land on the corner of Condamine & Drayton Streets, Dalby, was placed under the control of the Dalby Town Council by the Queensland State Government for development as a park.
Members of the council, and the public, offered the suggestion that the park be named 'The Thomas Jack Park'. At the Dalby Town Council meeting of 19 March 1951, Alderman Jack said that "he appreciated the honour it had been suggested should be conferred on him".
Following the death of Thomas Jack in 1952, the Dalby Town Council decided that the name 'Thomas Jack Park' be changed to 'Thomas Jack Memorial Park', however, today the park is more well known as 'Thomas Jack Park'.
