Daandine Homestead was built in 1888 on Daandine Station, Macalister.
The sprawling homestead stood on tall timber piles, measured 54 squares, & had verandahs on each side. It was located on the 'Homestead block' of Daandine, as it has been known since an early subdivision of Daandine in the late 1800s. Originally the homestead block was 40,000 acres, but had been reduced to 1400 acreas by the end of WWII.
Many people have occupied the homestead since it was built, including a WWII soldier-settler who kept pigs under the house & made a living from stripping down vehicles & farm machinery.
