The Bell Memorial, a monument to honour the late Hon. J. T. Bell, was opened 1 March 1914 by His Excellency Sir William MacGregor, Governor of Queensland.
The monument was unveiled in front of a large assembly of local residents, visitors from other parts of southern Queensland, including a special train load from Toowoomba.
Alderman W. R. Hunter, chairman of the Memorial Committee presided over the event, and after unveiling the monument, formally handed it over to the Mayor of Dalby Town Council, Alderman A. L. Lindsay, who accepted it on behalf of the residents of Dalby.
A guard of honour was provided by the Dalby senior cadets, and music was provided by the Toowoomba Municipal Band.
