An attempt was made to establish a hotel at Kaimkillenbun in 1908, but the local temperance movement managed to prevent it.
In October 1911, Mr. E. Higgs successfully obtained a licence and built the Kenilworth Hotel. The building was constructed from bricks made at Moola and transported to the site. Mr. Alfred J. Knight was the hotel's first licensee and remained in that position for five years.
The hotel building is still in existence and is now known as 'The Bun Pub'.
