Dalby Motor & Electrical Supply Co. was an electrical supplies business owned by Peter Cahill and John (Jack) Lynch, who took over the business from the previous owners in 1929.
The store was destroyed by fire on 22 February 1931. The fire is thought to have started in a back room of Hodge's Hairdressing & Billiard Saloon, and quickly spread to engulf a number of businesses, and the relatively new Wintergarden Theatre.
The Dalby Fire Brigade had little chance of saving the wooden buildings, being delayed in the task by a hose bursting several times while pumping water from Myall Creek.
That morning, a number of people, mostly dressed in sleepwear, gathered in front of the burning premises.
