The Tara Queen Carnival was held in July 1922. A procession was timed to move from the Tara Soldiers' Memorial Hall at 11am, with prizes offered for the best decorated Queen's vehicle, most original character, and the best child in fancy dress.
The carnival ended with a day of sports at the recreation reserve, and a crowning ceremony for the 'Queen' in the Memorial Hall later in the evening. Various committees worked together to ensure the function was a great success and raised funds for the returned soldiers.
