The Postal Ball was hosted by the Dalby Postal Institute, and was held in the Dalby show-grounds pavilion on 29 June 1953.
Ryan's Orchestra played dance music for the guests, and the Volker & Kerslake Juvenile Orchestra entertained during the breaks throughout the night. Each of the 18 alcoves was connected by phone to an exchange which could interconnect the alcoves, the supper room and the band stand. Technicians had also rigged up a landline from Station 4QS and cricket scores were given over a loudspeaker erected outside the main door.
The official party for the Ball included President for the Institute, Mr. N. Gardiner, Dalby Town Council Mayor, Alderman R. C. Drew, and Mr. E. Fletcher, who represented the Director for Posts and Telegraphs.
