Tipton Bridge was officially opened on 29 August 1932, and connected the Dalby and Cecil Plains districts.
The opening of the bridge over the Condamine River 18 miles south of Dalby, was seen as a great benefit to the residents on both sides of the river, as the old bridge had become impassable and was frequently submerged by floodwaters. The new bridge was built at a much higher level and had been constructed to avoid floodwaters.
In conjunction with the opening of the bridge, the Broadwater Carnival Committee and Angling Club held an outing in aid of the Dalby Ambulance, and there was a large number of people present at both functions.
