The Jondowae Plain and Fan C Dress Ball was held at the Commercial Hall on Wednesday, 9 July 1913, in connection with the Golden Offering of the Church of England. Over one hundred couples were present, many wearing fancy dress.
Although only a few more than a dozen appeared in fancy dress, they brought a lot of life and amusement into the hall.
The judges were unanimous in giving the pride of place amongst the gentlemen to Mr E. W. Dean, who appeared as an Indian chief. Mr. Dean made his outfit himself and was deserving of the prize. Miss Platzke received the lady's prize, beautifully dressed as "Queen of the dawn".
At 12 o'clock, refreshments were served, and the dancing continued until the early hours of Thursday morning.
After expenses, a profit of £10 was made for the Church of England.
