St. Cecilia's Players was a theatre group in Chinchilla, which formed when the St. Cecilia's Anglican Hall was built in 1954.
Reverend Ralph de Voil, who was inducted as the Minister of St. Cecilia's Anglican Church in 1950, had a background in theatre in England, and ensured that the hall had a good stage, plenty of height, wings and a suitable backstage area.
Early players were Hilda Burbank, Lois Lenihan, Grace Carmichael, Barry Nielsen, Margaret Nuffer, Sylvia Rudge, Ray Langler, Helen Avis, Jean Robin, Bert Piper and Noel Blond. Sets were constructed by Ernie Hughes, Phil Waller and Mick Hicks, and Arthur Squire was treasurer.
Over a period of twenty years, they produced two three-act plays per year, as well as supporting travelling Queensland Arts Council productions.
