Dorothea McLeod was the eldest of the five children of Maria Cowles & Roderick McLeod, and was born at Trentham, Victoria, in 1885. Her younger brother, Ronald, was a Private in the 15th Australian Infantry Battalion, AIF, was wounded in action at Gallipoli in 1915. He died of enteric fever at Mudros, Greece, the same year.
Dorothea married Frederick Thomas Walker, of "Walkers Creek", Bell, in 1910. They went on to have five children - Frederick, Thomas, Ronald (Poss), John, & Muriel. Following Muriel's birth, Dorothea became ill & died five months later at the age of 36 years. She was buried at the Drayton & Toowoomba Cemetery.
She was survived by her mother, her three sisters (Elsie, Mabel, & Lilian), her husband, & her five children.
