The Dalby Water Treatment Works was opened in December 1960.
Located 10km southwest of Dalby on the Moonie Highway, the Dalby Water Treatment Works was established to provide water to the residents of Dalby township.
Water is sourced from a number of shallow alluvial bores along with water from the Condamine River, and purified for human cinsumption. Alongside the treatment works is a stand-alone residence for the plant supervisor to ensure constant monitoring of the water supply.
The nearby Condamine River is subject to regular flooding, & in 2011 the Dalby Water Treatment Works was inundated, resulting in the closure of the facility. This closure stopped the water supply to Dalby and required workers to be flown by helicopter to undertake repairs.
