Myra Provisional School (No. 1247) was the first State School in the Tara district, opening on 30 January 1911 and operating as a part-time school.
In 1913, Myra Provisional School became a full-time school and was renamed Perthton Provisional School. It was located on a 2 acre site north-west of the Perthton railway station.
The school closed in February 1930, when the new Goranba State School was established, with the Perthton school building relocated to the new site.
