In July 1913, the Governor-in-Council approved of the establishment of a new State school at Kupunn, near Ducklo, and Kupunn State School (No. 1392) opened 6 August 1913.
The location of the school is unknown, but was likely to have been located near the (now) abandoned Kupunn Railway Station, at the Kupunn Rd & Kupunn Duleen Rd, Ducklo intersection.
Fluctuating numbers caused the school to temporarily close in 1932, but it was reopened in 1933. During the 1950s, numbers varied between 21 to 34, which resulted in works to enclose the veranda, to extend the classroom, and to incorporate a library.
The school closed on 31 December 1963 due to low attendance, with the building removed to Formartin School.
