Goranba Provisional School opened in February 1925.
In December 1929, the school building at Perthton was reloacted to Goranba to establish Goranba State School on a new five acre site.
On 28 February 1930, Goranba State School was opened, combining Goranba Provisional School and Perthton State School in a single location. The school was located 3.6 kilometres north of the Goranba railway station, on the north-east corner of Goranba Lane and Crosbies Road.
