The Ewing's Garage building in Cunningham Street, Dalby, was designed and constructed in 1928 by Mr. William Evans Ewing to replace the old Ewing's Garage building.
One of the greatest difficulties he overcame was to build the new premesis, while leaving the old one in a sufficient state of preservation to carry on the business. This was accomplished, and not for one day was business suspended during the erection of the new steel and concrete building.
Upstairs were spacious living quarters for Mr. Ewing and his family, along with a dance hall, where bi-weekly dances were held.
The building was officially opened by the Mayor of Dalby (Alderman Victor Drury) on Friday 4 May 1928, when Mr. and Mrs. Ewing entertained the public at a ball and supper. Ald. Drury said that Ald. Ewing was a man of whom the town should be proud.
