John Hay Braddock was a well known resident of Dalby, being the editor & proprietor of the Dalby "Leader" newspaper.
He was the only son of John & Willhemina Lydia Braddock. Interestingly, John's mother was the first Dalby resident whose remains were taken to Brisbane for cremation in 1937. John married Mary Anne (Maysie) Peddie in 1920.
John Braddock was a country newspaper man for a long period. For a number of years, he was the proprietor of the Dalby Leader, which was taken over by the Dalby Herald in 1924. At various times he also owned the Chinchilla News, the Miles Express, the Tweed Heads Star, the Laidley Herald, & the Monto Herald. He sold the Monto Herald in 1936 & moved to Toowoomba where he purchased a dry-cleaning business.
