St. Mary's College was established in 1963 by St. John's Parish & the Christian Brothers to educate boys from years 5 to 10.
In 1980, the school became co-educational for years 8 to 10, and in 1998 the school commenced senior secondary education, with the first seniors graduating in 1999.
In 2006, Bishop Morris gave permission for the unification of St. Columba's School and St. Mary's College, and in 2008 the combined schools were renamed Our Lady of the Southern Cross College.
