Thomas Joseph Connelly was born in Dalby in 1874. He was educated at St. Columba's Convent School, and at the age of 16 was apprenticed as a chemist to Dr. F. Merritt, who founded a pharmacy in Cunningham Street in 1868. Upon the death of Dr. Merrit, Thomas entered into a partnership with Mr. J. J. Cormack, and on Mr. Cormack's death conducted the business as Connelly's Pharmacy for the next 50 years.
Thomas married Agatha Theresa Condon on 7th October 1903.
Thomas Connelly was well known for his kindness and generosity to the people of Dalby. He was a keen lover of sports, and an ardent worker for the Catholic Church, the Convent, and the hospital.
in 1940, Thomas retired to Toowoomba, where he resided until his death in 1947.
